All fund raising events were cancelled and our quiz night in March was no exception. This marked the start of a string of cancellations including our participation in Haddstock 2020, the Haddington festival and our trip to Aubigny in July. Rethinking ourselves in these new conditions is not easy, and HTA reconvened in the second part of the year, albeit virtually. The following report shows our activities from our last AGM (I)Links with schools: •The annual Alice Burnett Twinning Scholarship In 2020, the Scholarship was awarded to Carrie Evans. Unfortunately and due to the Covid 19 crisis and lockdown, it was not possible for Carrie to travel to France We are all hoping that the trip will be possible in 2021. The scholarship is fully funded by HTA with the assistance of Aubigny Twinning Association (ATA) who is or-ganising works experience and hosting. •The Aubigny scholarship winner, with the current health crisis, ATA did not organise a scholarship and this event was postponed until 2021. •Haddington Primary School There are ongoing plans for closer links between Haddington Primary School pupils and French pupils in L’Ecole des Grands Jardins in Aubigny. •Knox Academy: Hannah McBride, Modern Languages teacher at Knox Academy, organised for S5/6 pupils to visit Aubigny in December 2019. The 5 days trip was successful despite the strike actions in held in France at the time. The students were hosted in families, organised by the Aubigny Twinning Association (ATA). As always, this trip was a great help to the S5 and S6 to improve their language skills. The committee would like to thanks both Hannah McBride and the ATA for their part in organising such a suc-cessful trip. The trip was funded individually, with a contribution from HTA. (II)Joint Haddington Twinning and Blooming Haddington Partnership Project: The Joint Haddington Twinning and Blooming Haddington Partnership Project saw the continuation of the French themed garden in Lady Kitty’s Garden. Lavenders, and others were planted this year to complement the garden in spring and summer. Our thanks go to Blooming Haddington for all their hard work and horticul-tural creativity and to the Mortification Trust for its financial support.

(Cont) (III)Awareness raising/Fundraising: •A Beaujolais Nouveau Film Night was held on 22 November 2018, featuring “Les Visiteurs”, a block buster comedy from the past. As well as Beaujolais, we were able to sample French cheese and local charcuterie made in East Lothian. Our thanks go to the Haddington Film Club for their help in showing the film.•Members were invited to a French lunch at the Haddington rugby club in February and were able to watch live the France Vs Scotland match as part of the 6 nations tournament. •We received an invita+on from the Musselburgh Twinning Associa+on for the Interna+onal Women’s Day event in March. Elaine Mitchell-Wilson (HTA) and Mar+ne Destenave (ATC) aEended the weekend event. (IV) Future events •As we now move into the next phase of the pandemic, social interactions are still very difficult.
